Position Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join a 10-bed geriatric psychiatric voluntary short-stay unit serving patients aged 65 and older.
In this role, you will provide individualized, compassionate nursing care while helping create a safe, supportive environment for older adults experiencing mental health challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, deliver, and evaluate patient care based on individual needs and established standards of practice.
- Assess patients, recognize changes in condition, and communicate concerns promptly to providers and the healthcare team.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive patient care plans.
- Administer medications safely and evaluate their effectiveness.
- Prioritize care for patients with complex medical and behavioral health needs.
- Collaborate with physicians, LPNs/LNAs, and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Educate patients and families and serve as a resource to peers.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Apply critical-thinking skills to determine appropriate responses to urgent and non-urgent situations.
- Participate in ongoing education, training, and professional development.
Qualifications
- Active RN License – Required
- BLS – Required
- ACLS – Required
- Associate Degree or higher in Nursing preferred.
- Strong clinical assessment, communication, and critical-thinking skills.
- Ability to provide compassionate, age-appropriate care to geriatric patients.
- Comfortable working independently while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.
