Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Immunization Nurse Float to support a nationwide vaccination initiative within CVS Health retail pharmacy locations. The RN will administer a variety of vaccines, including Influenza, COVID-19, MMR, and other CDC-recommended immunizations while delivering exceptional patient care in a fast-paced retail healthcare environment.

This role requires flexibility, strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to improving community health through preventive care.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer vaccines including Flu, COVID-19, MMR, and other immunizations in accordance with CDC and state guidelines.
  • Perform patient assessments and review medical histories prior to vaccine administration.
  • Monitor patients for adverse reactions and provide appropriate intervention if needed.
  • Educate patients regarding vaccine benefits, side effects, and post-vaccination care.
  • Maintain accurate electronic documentation of all immunizations and patient interactions.
  • Follow infection prevention and safety protocols while utilizing provided PPE.
  • Ensure compliance with CVS Health policies, state regulations, and clinical standards.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists, healthcare professionals, and retail staff to deliver outstanding patient care.
  • Adapt to varying patient volumes and changing operational needs across assigned locations.
  • Promote a positive patient experience through compassionate, professional service.

Required Qualifications

  • Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of California.
  • Minimum 1 year of nursing experience, including immunization administration.
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
  • Strong clinical skills in medication administration and patient assessment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced retail healthcare environment.
  • Must not be listed on the DEA Excluded Parties List.
  • Verifiable High School Diploma or GED (minimum education requirement).
  • No prior CVS/Aetna work experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous retail clinic, outpatient, occupational health, public health, or vaccination clinic experience.
  • Experience administering high-volume immunization programs.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) documentation.

Work Schedule

  • Sunday through Saturday
  • 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM
  • 40 hours per week
  • Weekly time submission
  • Flexibility with scheduling and work hours is required.
