Immunizing Nurse – Vaccination Initiative

Position Overview:
 

CVS Health is hiring Registered Nurses (RNs) for the seasonal Vaccination Initiative to provide immunization services in a retail pharmacy setting. The RN will administer CDC-recommended vaccines, educate patients, perform clinical assessments, and deliver exceptional patient-centered care while supporting high-volume vaccination clinics.

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer CDC-recommended vaccines including Influenza, COVID-19, MMR, RSV, Tdap, Hepatitis A & B, Pneumococcal, Shingrix, HPV, Varicella, and other routine immunizations.
• Perform patient assessments to determine vaccine eligibility and identify contraindications.
• Review medical history, allergies, current medications, and immunization records before vaccine administration.
• Administer medications and vaccines following established clinical protocols.
• Educate patients regarding vaccine benefits, risks, side effects, and post-vaccination care.
• Monitor patients for adverse reactions following immunizations and provide appropriate nursing interventions when necessary.
• Collaborate with pharmacists, physicians, and healthcare professionals to ensure safe, efficient patient care.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and update immunization records.
• Follow infection prevention, vaccine storage, cold-chain management, and safety protocols.
• Support high-volume seasonal vaccination clinics while maintaining excellent customer service.
• Demonstrate empathy, professionalism, and patient-centered care in every interaction.
• Adapt quickly to changing clinic workflows and operational needs.
• Contribute positively to a collaborative healthcare team environment.

Required Qualifications:

• Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) License in the state of practice.
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience, including immunization/vaccination experience.
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification.
• Strong medication administration skills.
• Excellent patient assessment and communication skills.
• Comfortable administering vaccines to pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations.
• Must not appear on the DEA Excluded Parties List.
• High School Diploma or GED (verification required).

Preferred Skills:

• Vaccine administration experience in retail pharmacy, outpatient clinic, or community health settings.
• Strong interpersonal and patient education skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with pharmacists and healthcare teams.
• Experience documenting within electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
• Ability to maintain professionalism during high-volume vaccination seasons.
