Job Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join a community-based Vaccination Initiative. This contract opportunity focuses on delivering high-quality immunization services in a retail healthcare setting while ensuring an exceptional patient experience.

The ideal candidate is patient-focused, clinically skilled, and passionate about preventive healthcare. This is an onsite, patient-facing role requiring flexibility and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced clinical environment.

 

Job Details

Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Immunization Nurse
Location: Santa Barbara, CA 93105
Assignment Duration: August 23, 2026 – November 30, 2026
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 2:30 PM – 6:30 PM
Hours: 20 Hours per Week
Employment Type: Contract
Work Setting: Retail Healthcare Clinic / Community Health
Work Arrangement: Onsite

Position Summary

The Registered Nurse will administer a variety of immunizations, educate patients on vaccine recommendations, monitor for adverse reactions, and maintain accurate clinical documentation. This role requires strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering safe, compassionate, and efficient patient care.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer vaccines including:
    • Influenza (Flu)
    • COVID-19
    • MMR
    • Hepatitis A & B
    • Tdap
    • Shingles (Zoster)
    • Pneumococcal
    • HPV
    • RSV
    • Other recommended immunizations
  • Conduct patient assessments prior to vaccine administration.
  • Monitor patients for adverse reactions and provide appropriate care when needed.
  • Educate patients on vaccine benefits, potential side effects, and post-vaccination care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic documentation.
  • Follow infection prevention, safety, and clinical protocols.
  • Collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals and clinic staff.
  • Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care while maintaining professionalism.
  • Support efficient daily clinic operations and adapt to changing patient volumes.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) License in the state of practice.
  • Minimum 1 year of nursing experience, including immunization and direct patient care.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Strong clinical assessment and medication administration skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability and willingness to administer vaccinations to patients of all eligible age groups.
  • Verifiable High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must not be listed on the DEA Excluded Parties List.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in:
    • Immunization or vaccination clinics
    • Retail healthcare
    • Community health
    • Outpatient or ambulatory care
    • Occupational health
  • Experience administering multiple vaccine types.
  • Strong patient education and documentation skills.
