Job Summary We are seeking a professional and skilled Local Trucking Dispatcher to join our team. In this role, you be coordinating short-haul freight movements within the Southern California service area, often for LTL (less-than-truckload) carriers as well as FTL (Full Tuck loads) carries and Freight Forwarders and CFS Stations. This role is critical for matching loads to drivers, planning routes, and ensuring compliance with DOT and company regulations. The ideal candidate is highly organized with the ability to multi-task and work well under pressure.
Responsibilities
Driver Scheduling: Match driver availability (location, equipment, HOS) with load pickup/delivery windows
Route Planning: Ability to read maps, use GPS & TMS software to optimize and plan routes for fuel efficiency, safety, and delivery times.
Communication: Liaise with drivers, Freight Forwarders, brokers, and customers to resolve problems and update schedules.
Issue Resolution: Re-book or reroute loads when delays, detentions, or customer issues occur.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate logs and documentation for loads and deliveries.
High Call Volume & Emails: Handle Calls & Emails cordially, professionally and quickly.
Qualifications
High school diploma/GED
1–2 years of related experience in logistics, trucking, or dispatching
Excellent typing and data entry skills
Understanding of best practices and procedures to route drivers and handle customer requirements on shipments.
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Highly organized with the ability to multitask and prioritize projects
