At Innovative Ag Services Co., we’re looking for a results‑driven leader with strong agricultural operations experience to oversee our Garden City, IA, location and support the success of our Ellsworth, IA, facility. The ideal candidate brings proven leadership, a deep understanding of grain and agronomy operations, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to drive growth through exceptional customer service and efficient facility management. This role requires someone who can build high‑performing teams, manage complex operational workflows, and ensure safe, reliable, and profitable performance across both locations.

Primary Objective:  Provide the leadership and management necessary for the growth and efficient operations of the location to benefit IAS, its members, customers, and employees.

Major Accountabilities:

The following duties are typical for this job.  These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive.

  • Recruit, hire, and train all full-time, seasonal, and contractual location personnel.
  • Manage location growth, daily operations, and efficient distribution of location products.
  • Provide a level of customer service that promotes growth in annual grain purchases and supply sales.
  • Grow location market share in grain bushels purchased annually by determining the best use of marketing strategies available for location customers and coordinating with grain department personnel to promote those strategies.
  • Effective communications with supply sales marketing teams to accomplish location volume goals.
  • Safekeeping of location’s physical product inventory and accurate accounting thereof.
  • Manage location inventories to meet seasonal demand.
  • Maintain location hours to meet full-time and seasonal demands.
  • Manage location labor, variable, and fixed expenses to meet location local income requirements.
  • Maintain location assets and supervise location maintenance program, 
  • Manage all facility operations and quality control; maximize blending opportunities.
  • Completion of intercompany and regulatory requirements on a timely basis.
  • Manage location’s accounts receivable loss to less than .1% of sales.
  • Knowledge, promotion, and enforcement of safety policies and procedures; minimize lost time accidents.
  • Maintain a clean and organized facility that you, employees, and customers will be proud of.
  • Efficiently manage Ellsworth and Garden City’s workload by utilizing your staff at both locations.
  • Manage the efficiency of the transportation truck in Ellsworth.
  • Accept and carry out other assigned tasks. These other assigned tasks could total 15% to 25% of daily duties and will be dependent on individual skill set.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Knowledge of and experience in agricultural retail management, including areas of grain, agronomy, feed, and energy.
  • Mechanical aptitude including basic understanding of mechanical, hydraulics, pumping systems, piping systems, and knowledge of various machines and tools including their design, use, repair, and maintenance.
  • Displays a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments efficiently.
  • Ability to communicate information or ideas effectively in written and oral form.
  • Ability to organize, deal with change effectively, and work on multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Microsoft Office suite programs, including Excel and Word.
  • Series I computer operation

Physical Requirements/Environmental Adaptability:

  • Requires static strength to lift, push, pull, or carry objects with a minimum weight of 50 pounds.  Also, flexibility to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs.   Also, trunk strength and ability to use abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time.  Some tasks involve repetitive motion.
  • Agricultural Environment – Possible exposure to seasonal weather, outdoor conditions, and agriculture products.
  • Personal Protective Equipment may be required for some tasks.
