We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Locum Nurse Practitioner to support our cardiothoracic surgery team at Saint Joseph Hospital. What You’ll Bring:

  • Proven proficiency in surgical patient management, including post-operative care and ICU duties
  • Excellent clinical judgment and decision-making skills
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities to coordinate with surgical teams and support staff
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations with professionalism and compassion

Ideal Additional Skills:
  • Experience with first assisting in cardiothoracic procedures such as CABG, AVR, MVR, thoracotomies, and lung resections
  • Familiarity with telemetry and ICU patient care
  • Prior experience in a hospital setting with surgical and critical care responsibilities

Preferred Education & Experience:
  • Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN or DNP)
  • Current and unrestricted Kentucky Nurse Practitioner license
  • At least 2 years of relevant surgical or critical care experience

Other Requirements:
  • Valid Kentucky state license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner
  • Ability to perform procedures including chest tube placement and vein harvest
  • Flexibility to work one weekend a month, with 24/7 call responsibilities
  • Availability for scheduled dates starting May 8, 2026, with ongoing coverage needs
