What Youll Do
- Provide cardiovascular surgical support, including assisting with heart surgeries and other thoracic cases as needed
- Participate in daily rounds and document post-op status (including writing notes; sometimes shared with surgeons)
- Assist with inpatient patient care for a small inpatient census (typically <10 patients)
- Support post-surgical follow-up workflow, including afternoon clinic sessions Tuesday and Thursday
- See clinic patients (up to ~6 patients) and evaluate issues that arise outside regular clinic timing when needed
- Maintain readiness for night call coverage (holding the pager) with minimal call back
- Follow facility-specific processes for clinical support and documentation
What You Need
Required
- Recent and substantial cardiovascular surgical assist experience
- EVH (Endovascular Vein Harvesting) experience required (please specify EVH experience during presentation)
- Active/current clinical standing per assignment requirements (see compliance section below)
- Malpractice must be included in rates (handled through the onboarding process)
Preferred
- Experience covering both inpatient rounds support and follow-up clinic coverage
- Familiarity with cardiovascular surgical program workflows and documentation expectations
About the Assignment
This locum assignment supports a cardiovascular surgery team at a Level II Trauma Center in Redding, CA, covering approximately 1011 heart surgeries per month plus additional thoracic cases as needed. The team conducts morning rounds with post-op documentation and provides afternoon inpatient-based follow-up clinic Tuesday and Thursday, with occasional flexibility if patient issues cannot wait for the next clinic day.
