What Youll Do
- Provide hospital-based gastroenterology care with call coverage only (no clinic)
- Perform hospital rounding during the in-house portion of the call period (~8 hours)
- Complete GI procedures as scheduled, including endoscopy and related interventions
- Manage consults and patient care on the GI service during your coverage window
- Provide colonoscopy and endoscopic interventions including biopsy and polypectomy
- Support management of acute GI bleed, including related endoscopic care
- Maintain competency for ERCP when available/needed (highly preferred)
What You Need
Required
- Licensed/credentialed Physician Gastroenterology (GI)
- Experience performing the required GI procedures:
- Colonoscopy with biopsy/polypectomy
- Proctoscopy / flexible sigmoidoscopy
- Hemorrhoidal banding
- Upper GI endoscopy
- PEG
- Esophageal variceal banding
- Banding of lesions
- Management of acute GI bleed
- Dilation
Preferred
- ERCP experience/management (ERCP proficiency is highly preferred)
- Comfort working as solo coverage (no additional GI physician present during assignment)
- Familiarity with EPIC EMR
About the Assignment
This locum assignment is hospital and call coverage only at a leading facility in Bismarck, North Dakota. You will provide in-house rounding during your 24-hour call shift and perform endoscopy/procedures as scheduled. The typical procedure mix is approximately 12 scopes per day, with 12 new patient consults per day and about 56 patients to round on per day; support includes RN and CRNA coverage in the endoscopy area.
