Interventional Radiology locums coverage in California with a predictable clinic-day schedule and Level I trauma call in weeklong blocks, averaging about one call-in per week.

Highlights

• Long-term locums need, supporting a short-staffed service while a permanent provider is recruited.
• Coverage structure is 1 week per month, including call, seeking 1 to 2 physicians.
• Level I trauma core IR with a defined case mix and resident support.

Practice Setting

• Mix of inpatient and outpatient Interventional Radiology.
• Mostly adult patients, very limited pediatric cases.
• Support includes IR nurses, IR technologists, and shared resident support.
• Typical volume is 10 to 16 cases per day, including 1 to 2 large cases.

Schedule

• Scheduled hours are 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, may extend for ongoing cases or emergencies.
• Call is typically a full week at a time, required for Level I trauma coverage.
• Call-ins average about once per week, response time is critical.
• Post call day off depends on IR staffing and coverage.

Cases and Procedures

• Level I trauma core IR, including bleeding embolizations.
• Nephrostomy tubes, biopsies, drainages.
• Dialysis catheters, occasional PE thrombectomies.
• Non-emergency end-of-day cases may be deferred to discourage technologist overtime.

Requirements

• Must be an MD or DO.
• California medical license required, will not wait for license.
• Board certified or board eligible within 5 years.
• Board certification requirements include Interventional Radiology and Diagnostic Radiology, Fluoroscopy certification required.
