What You Will Do:
- Provide expert outpatient and inpatient oncology care, focusing on benign hematology and malignant oncology cases
- Participate actively in tumor board meetings to collaborate on patient treatment plans
- Manage blood marrow transplants, oversee blood banks, and order diagnostic tests and imaging studies
- Prescribe and administer chemotherapy in partnership with nursing staff and oncologists
- Contribute to a multidisciplinary team dedicated to patient-centered oncology care
Required Skills:
- MD or DO degree with valid medical license in South Carolina or eligibility to obtain one
- Board certification or eligibility in Hematology/Oncology
- Proven experience in outpatient and inpatient oncology settings
- Strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and ability to work collaboratively
- Proficiency with Epic EMR system
Nice to Have Skills:
- Experience participating in tumor boards or managing bone marrow transplants
- Familiarity with blood bank operations and chemotherapy protocols
- Prior locum or temporary/contract work experience
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Medical degree from an accredited institution
- At least 2 years of post-residency clinical practice in oncology or hematology
- Experience working in cancer centers or similar specialized environments
Other Requirements:
- Credentialing estimated to take approximately 60 days
- Willingness to travel to Greenville, SC, with expenses reimbursed (flight, hotel, rental car, mileage at IRS standard rates)
- No call during the locum period; potential call responsibilities if converted to permanent position (1 week every 6-8 weeks)
- Must be eligible for state licensure and hold appropriate certifications
