Overview
AtlantiCare is seeking a qualified Cardiothoracic Surgeon to cover a short-term assignment in Atlantic City, NJ. As a vital member of our surgical team, you will handle adult cardiac procedures, including CABG and arterial revascularization, in a Level II Trauma hospital setting. This role provides an excellent platform for experienced surgeons to maintain their clinical skills, collaborate with dedicated ancillary staff, and enjoy the convenience of working in a supportive and well-equipped environment. Required Skills
- Board Certification in Cardiothoracic Surgery
- Fellowship training in Cardiothoracic Surgery
- Active New Jersey medical license
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Proven experience in adult cardiac surgery, particularly CABG and arterial revascularization procedures
- Ability to perform redo coronary revascularization and pericardial window surgeries
- Strong clinical judgment and excellent surgical skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
Nice to Have Skills
- Experience with Cerner PowerChart or similar EHR systems
- Previous work in a Level II Trauma hospital setting
- Familiarity with off-pump coronary bypass techniques
- Additional certifications in advanced cardiac life support or specialized surgical techniques
Preferred Education and Experience
- Medical degree from an accredited institution
- Completion of accredited cardiothoracic surgery fellowship
- At least 3-5 years of post-fellowship surgical experience in adult cardiac procedures
- Prior locum or temporary surgical coverage experience is advantageous
Other Requirements
- Must obtain and maintain active NJ medical license prior to start
- Credentialing process estimated to take approximately 30 days
- Availability to work approximately 12-13 shifts per month, including on-call duties (schedule to be determined)
- Willingness to travel locally for hospital coverage as needed
