What Youll Need to Succeed:
- Proven experience in Adult Cardiac Surgery, including CABG (arterial revascularization using internal mammary or radial arteries), valve repair/replacement, and redo cases
- Proficiency in Thoracic Surgery procedures such as tube thoracostomy, tracheostomy, bronchoscopy, VATS decortication, lung biopsy, and pericardial window
- Ability to manage high-risk ICU patients, including Impella insertions/removals and medical management of critically ill individuals
- Strong documentation skills using Epic EMR system
- Ability to collaborate effectively with a specialized team including first assist staff with vein harvest experience and an attentive ICU team
- Flexibility to work a 24/7 schedule including on-call duties
Nice to Have Skills:
- Experience with structural heart procedures in hybrid OR or cath lab settings
- Background in adult and geriatric patient populations
- Experience with less common thoracic procedures and complex cases
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Medical degree from an accredited institution
- Board certification or eligibility in Cardiothoracic Surgery
- At least 3 years of surgical experience in a hospital setting dealing with adult and geriatric patients
Other Requirements:
- Credentialing estimated to take approximately 90 days
- Willingness to work on a 24-hour shift schedule
- Must hold valid medical licenses and certifications to practice in Kentucky
- Travel reimbursements include lodging (~$150/night) and travel costs, with rates aligned to standard and economy travel options
