Job Title: Locum Pediatric Surgery Physician – Richmond, VA

What You’ll Do:
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to diagnose and determine surgical needs for pediatric patients.
  • Perform preoperative assessments, surgical procedures, and postoperative management.
  • Provide urgent and scheduled surgical interventions for pediatric patients, primarily from the Emergency Department.
  • Manage a patient caseload of 0-4 children per day, including emergent surgeries (approximately 8-10 per year).
  • Respond to emergency consults within 30 minutes, with a callback time within 15 minutes.
  • Rounding for admitted patients and providing surgical consults as needed during your shift.
  • Participate in on-call coverage from 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM, with support staff triaging calls during daytime hours.

What You Need:
  • Active Board Certified Pediatric Surgery certification or eligible.
  • Current medical license to practice in Virginia or ability to obtain licensure.
  • Prior pediatric surgical experience.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a hospital setting.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Preferred:
  • Experience in community health systems or similar settings.
  • Comfortable managing a wide range of pediatric surgical cases.
