Logistics Administrator IV / Transportation Logistics SpecialistPosition Overview
The Transportation Logistics Specialist IV is responsible for ensuring the efficient and cost-effective transportation of materials and products from origin to destination. This role focuses on truck transportation management, carrier relationships, freight pricing, market analysis, and operational optimization.
The ideal candidate will have strong transportation and logistics experience, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to analyze freight markets and transportation operations to drive value and efficiency. This individual will serve as a key resource for transportation strategy, carrier management, and freight cost optimization while supporting stakeholders across multiple business lines.
Key ResponsibilitiesTransportation & Carrier Management
Support enterprise transportation carrier management strategies through:
Rate negotiations
Carrier relationship management
Capacity management
Shipment execution
Carrier segmentation
Transportation spend management
Identify, evaluate, and select the most appropriate and cost-effective truck transportation solutions.
Negotiate competitive freight rates and contract terms to secure transportation services in the best interest of the organization.
Maximize load pairing opportunities (backhauls) to improve efficiency and create value across product lines.
Collaborate with transportation team members to optimize carrier performance and transportation strategies.
Serve as a subject matter expert on transportation markets, freight rates, and industry trends.
Market Analysis & Stakeholder Support
Provide stakeholders with accurate, market-based freight pricing.
Develop a strong understanding of freight markets and communicate market insights, trends, and recommendations.
Improve organizational understanding of customer- and plant-specific shipping requirements.
Effectively communicate shipping requirements and expectations to third-party truck carriers.
Ensure transportation partnerships remain profitable and contribute positively to business objectives.
Process Improvement & Operations
Independently analyze transportation operations and identify process improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
Monitor carrier performance and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Take corrective action to address service issues and maintain required performance standards.
Work independently under general supervision to resolve transportation and logistics challenges.
Systems & Data Management
Maintain and update Transportation Management Systems (TMS), including Master Mind.
Manage transportation contracts, freight rates, volume estimates, customer information, and operational records.
Update internal documents, spreadsheets, databases, and reporting systems.
Research and resolve freight invoice discrepancies to ensure accurate carrier payments.
QualificationsRequired
Experience in transportation, logistics, supply chain, or freight operations.
Strong negotiation and carrier relationship management skills.
Experience analyzing freight rates and transportation markets.
Ability to independently solve problems and make sound business decisions.
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Proficiency with transportation systems, spreadsheets, and data management tools.
Preferred
Grain commodity trading experience.
Experience within agriculture, energy, commodities, or related industries.
Familiarity with Transportation Management Systems (TMS), including Master Mind.
Additional Information
This role requires the ability to work under general supervision while managing multiple priorities.
The successful candidate will be expected to build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external transportation partners while driving operational efficiency and cost-effective transportation solutions.

This is a Contract position based out of Lincoln, NE.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $42.00/hr.
