Danieli Group, a worldwide leader company which has produced and exported top level technology and innovation worldwide in the metal industry for more than 100 years is looking for a skilled Millwright or Assembly Mechanic to be based out of our Ashland, KY workshop.

In this position, you will disassemble, evaluate and assemble steel mill equipment upwards of 70,000 pounds, including mill stands, shears, straighteners, caster oscillators, rollers, mill mandrels, levelers, and gearboxes. The Service Center has been designed to repair and service the majority of Danieli equipment installed in their Melt Shops, and Rolling Mills that are worn, in need of minor repair, have damaged parts, or need a complete overhaul.

  • Disassemble, clean, reassemble large Industrial gear boxes, shears, and mandrels.
  • Reassemble of mill equipment to meet Danieli Standards.
  • Inspection of mill equipment.
  • Be able to read and understand drawings and specs for equipment.
  • Inspect dimensions of equipment using micrometers.
  • Perform basic welding tasks.

  • Align machines and equipment using hosts, jacks, hand tools, cranes, square rules, micrometers and plumb bobs.
  • Able to utilize a grinder to grind space defined by micrometers.
  • Must be able to use shop tools such as hydraulic presses, cutting torches, and basic hand tools such as: drill press, grinder and lathes.
  • Cleaning of equipment to a very high standard.
  • Experience with overhead crane usage rigging, techniques, and crane/rigging.
  • Must be able to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • Must have good mechanical aptitude.
  • Must be able to use torch cutting equipment & set up and operator small job machinery such as drill press, manual lathe, grinder, mig/stick welder.
  • Must be willing to work overtime in the evenings and weekends when required.
  • Position requires lifting heavy objects more than 50 lbs.
  • Position requires plant floor activity 90% of the time in a non-climate environment.
  • Relevant steel industry experience is a major plus!

This position is a day-shift position, Monday-Friday, from 2:30 p.m. 11 p.m. Competitive hourly pay, overtime available, plus quarterly bonus opportunities!

  • Check CNC machinery is in good working order before set up
  • Set up machinery to successfully conduct the run as specified
  • Refers to drawings, sketches, manuals, books, charts, military specifications and process sheets.
  • Ensures specification conformance of product, process and workmanship and documents findings on personal computers and/or other data acquisition devices as required.

  • Must be capable of working with tools range from various sizes and types of horizontal and vertical boring mills, boring bars, clamps, fixtures, angle plates, CNC equipment perishable tooling, chucks, dies, grinders, sanders and various hand tools (i.e. wrenches, pliers, etc.), measuring and test equipment (i.e. Versa and height gauges), personal computer and/or other data acquisition devices (i.e. bar-coding and datamyte).
  • Able to read and follow technical drawings and diagrammed instructions
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds or greater
  • Must be able to stand, sit, bend, and kneel for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to pass background check, drug screening and physical examination.

Electricians must be committed to their own personal safety as well as the safety of others around them.
