Position Responsibilities

 

  • Analyzes transportation and distribution systems and procedures to ensure the efficient and economical delivery of the organization's products.
  • Reviews proposals and makes recommendations for modifications in rates and transportation regulations.
  • Evaluates freight classifications, tariff rates and operating efficiency to ensure the proper delivery of products. 
  • Plans and coordinates fleet operations, including acquisition, scheduling, maintenance service and repair, and disposal of trucks, and hires common carriers (third-party transportation companies) as appropriate.

 



Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent work experience) 
  • 3+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, or distribution analysis 
  • Strong knowledge of freight classifications, tariff rates, and transportation regulations 
  • Experience with fleet management, including scheduling, maintenance, and carrier coordination 
  • Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS) and logistics software 
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail 
  • Ability to evaluate data and make cost-effective, efficiency-driven recommendations 
  • Strong understanding of third-party logistics (3PL) and carrier negotiations 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment 
  • Knowledge of DOT and other regulatory compliance standards is preferred
