Position Responsibilities
- Analyzes transportation and distribution systems and procedures to ensure the efficient and economical delivery of the organization's products.
- Reviews proposals and makes recommendations for modifications in rates and transportation regulations.
- Evaluates freight classifications, tariff rates and operating efficiency to ensure the proper delivery of products.
- Plans and coordinates fleet operations, including acquisition, scheduling, maintenance service and repair, and disposal of trucks, and hires common carriers (third-party transportation companies) as appropriate.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
- 3+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, or distribution analysis
- Strong knowledge of freight classifications, tariff rates, and transportation regulations
- Experience with fleet management, including scheduling, maintenance, and carrier coordination
- Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS) and logistics software
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Ability to evaluate data and make cost-effective, efficiency-driven recommendations
- Strong understanding of third-party logistics (3PL) and carrier negotiations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of DOT and other regulatory compliance standards is preferred
