Logistics Coordinator
Join a High-Performing Operations Team Supporting Laboratory and Materials Management
We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused
Logistics Coordinator (Contract) to support materials operations, inventory management, shipping and receiving activities, and laboratory logistics within a regulated environment. As a key member of the team, you will collaborate with laboratory personnel, operations staff, and internal customers to ensure critical materials, reagents, equipment, and supplies are available when needed while maintaining compliance with industry regulations and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Materials Management & Inventory Control
- Manage inventory levels for laboratory consumables, reagents, chemicals, glassware, and operational supplies.
- Ensure materials are properly received, inspected, documented, stored, and distributed.
- Verify incoming shipments for accuracy, completeness, and condition.
- Follow all required handling, storage, and temperature-control procedures.
- Prepare receiving documentation and maintain inventory records.
Shipping, Receiving & Logistics
- Prepare materials for shipment in accordance with required packaging and transportation standards.
- Generate and process shipping documentation.
- Support warehouse and logistics operations to minimize delays and prevent disruptions to customer workflows.
- Operate and maintain material handling equipment safely and effectively.
- Complete required Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) training and demonstrate operational proficiency.
Operational Support & Customer Service
- Serve as a primary liaison between customers and Materials Operations & Lab Services teams.
- Respond to customer inquiries via email, phone, and in person.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure projects have the necessary materials, equipment, and resources for successful execution.
- Troubleshoot operational issues and assist with day-to-day logistics support.
- Provide updates to supervisors and team leads regarding progress, challenges, and operational status.
Compliance, Safety & Continuous Improvement
- Maintain compliance with GLP, DOT, Hazardous Materials (HazMat), and other applicable regulatory requirements.
- Participate in safety initiatives, training programs, and awareness activities.
- Support process improvement projects focused on warehouse operations, equipment utilization, and workflow optimization.
- Participate in cross-functional training and departmental projects as needed.
- Maintain organized, clean, and safe work areas and equipment.
Qualifications
Required
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid California Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong customer service, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated with a strong focus on safety, quality, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and stand for extended periods.
- Ability to work weekends, alternate shifts, overtime, and a full-time 40-hour schedule as business needs require.
Preferred
- College-level coursework in biological sciences, physical sciences, or related fields.
- Associate Degree (AA/AS) in a scientific discipline.
- Experience with inventory management, warehouse operations, material handling, shipping and receiving, or logistics coordination.
- Knowledge of safe chemical handling practices.
- Experience with LEAN, Operational Excellence, or continuous improvement methodologies.

Contract Details
- Initial contract term: 4 months
- Potential contract extensions based on performance reviews
