Description

SAIC is seeking an experienced Logistics Manager to support submarine communications Very Low Frequency (VLF) systems. The successful candidate will oversee programmatic and technical logistics operations, manage personnel and subcontractors, and ensure the efficient flow of materials and schedules to support key mission objectives. This role demands expertise in managing complex logistics and production coordination, as well as a proven track record of leadership in dynamic environments.

The Logistics Manager will handle both strategic and tactical responsibilities, ensuring seamless coordination between departments, suppliers, and customers while managing program objectives, schedules, milestones, and resources.

Logistics and Production Planning

  • Develop and control production schedules to align with operational and mission requirements.
  • Coordinate with engineering and test teams to schedule workflows, ensure material availability, and meet program deadlines.
  • Prepare, issue, and manage work orders or purchase requests for required components and materials based on production needs and overall inventory levels.
  • Address potential production issues to ensure all personnel, equipment, materials, and subcontracted services are available as needed.

Material and Inventory Management

  • Develop material requirements and schedules from engineering specifications, production needs, and program objectives.
  • Collaborate with purchasing, warehouse operations, and production teams to manage material movement and inventory control processes.
  • Monitor supply and demand fluctuations, adjusting plans as necessary to mitigate production risks.

Technical and Programmatic Oversight:

  • Provide status updates on work progress, material availability, and resource utilization.
  • Perform risk management, identifying and mitigating potential problems to avoid delays in production and logistics operations.
  • Lead communication with stakeholders, including internal departments, external suppliers, and senior-level customer representatives, to resolve technical, programmatic, or contractual concerns.

Leadership and Management:

  • Manage and lead technical specialists and subcontract teams with significant autonomy and authority.
  • Create operational objectives, establish work plans, and delegate tasks to subordinates.
  • Oversee personnel performance, provide mentorship, and ensure alignment with organizational goals and best practices.
  • Lead planning sessions, conduct technical briefings, and facilitate cross-functional collaboration to achieve program success.

Leadership and Impact Scope:

  • Decisions made at this level will have an extended impact across multiple projects, work streams, and business operations.
  • This role requires excellence in problem-solving and decision-making to avoid critical delays, reduce inefficiencies, and ensure programmatic success.
  • Collaboration with senior management and customer counterparts will occur routinely to resolve issues and align objectives.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Engineering, Business Management, or a related field with 15+ years of relevant experience OR Master's Degree with 13+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proven experience supporting VLF systems logistics operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage large teams.
  • Strong understanding of material planning, production scheduling, and supply chain processes.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to evaluate technical challenges and drive program success.
  • Experience managing interdepartmental collaboration among fleet support, engineering, and inventory control teams.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the ability to lead discussions with internal and external stakeholders, including senior-level customer representatives.
  • Skilled in presenting technical and programmatic updates during stakeholder briefings and meetings.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience with Department of Navy projects, particularly related to submarine systems or other mission-critical operations.
  • Familiarity with VLF systems, communications logistics, or maritime systems support operations.
  • Experience with logistics software tools and inventory control systems.

Clearance Requirement:

Candidates must possess a current and active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain Top Secret.

Target salary range: $120,001 - $160,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
