Responsibilities:
THE ROLE:
The Logistics Manager leads and optimizes logistics activities across inbound transportation, outbound distribution, warehousing, inventory movements, freight management, and third-party logistics operations. In this role, you will shape logistics strategies that improve service, cost, quality, compliance, and scalability while supporting the reliable movement of products through the supply chain. You will collaborate with Supply Chain Planning, Procurement, Manufacturing, Customer Operations, Finance, Trade Compliance, and external logistics partners to solve complex operational challenges, strengthen business continuity, and support company growth. This role provides an opportunity to influence end-to-end logistics performance, develop a high-performing team, and drive measurable improvements in a dynamic global environment.
THE PERSON:
You are a strategic and hands-on logistics leader who combines strong operational judgment with data-driven decision-making. You build productive relationships across functions and with external partners, communicate clearly, and remain effective when priorities shift or supply chain disruptions occur. You hold yourself and others accountable for safety, service, quality, cost, and compliance, while creating an environment where employees can grow and succeed. You are also comfortable moving between long-term planning and detailed operational execution, using performance insights to identify root causes and lead sustainable improvements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead day-to-day transportation, warehousing, distribution, inventory movement, and returns activities across domestic and international operations.
- Ensure shipments are processed accurately and on time while meeting service, quality, cost, delivery, and compliance objectives.
- Develop and implement logistics strategies that improve operational efficiency, resilience, and scalability.
- Lead inventory movement planning and coordinate priorities to minimize disruptions and optimize customer service.
- Manage relationships with freight carriers, customs brokers, third-party logistics providers, and warehouse service partners.
- Oversee inbound and outbound parcel, air, ocean, and ground transportation activities.
- Monitor freight spend, capacity, service performance, and market conditions to identify optimization opportunities.
- Oversee warehouse receiving, storage, inventory control, shipping, and returns processes.
- Promote inventory accuracy through cycle counts, audits, root-cause analysis, and effective process controls.
- Establish and monitor logistics, warehouse productivity, service-level, cost, quality, and delivery metrics.
- Conduct regular business reviews with logistics providers and ensure performance aligns with contractual commitments and operating expectations.
- Ensure adherence to applicable transportation, import/export, trade, customs, hazardous materials, environmental, and customer-specific requirements.
- Support logistics audits, implement corrective actions, and assess risks that may affect business continuity.
- Develop dashboards and KPI reports to analyze transportation costs, warehouse productivity, inventory turns, and service levels.
- Identify opportunities to automate processes, improve data visibility, and strengthen operational performance.
- Lead Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous-improvement initiatives that deliver sustainable business results.
- Lead, coach, and develop warehouse and logistics personnel while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, customer focus, and continuous improvement.
- Establish clear team objectives, provide ongoing feedback, and support talent development and succession planning.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Progressive experience in logistics, transportation, distribution, warehousing, inventory management, or supply chain operations.
- Leadership experience managing employees, operational teams, or complex logistics programs.
- Experience managing third-party logistics providers, freight carriers, customs brokers, and warehouse service partners.
- Experience supporting domestic and international logistics operations, including multiple transportation modes.
- Strong knowledge of transportation management, warehouse operations, inventory control, freight optimization, and logistics compliance.
- Experience with enterprise resource planning systems such as SAP, Oracle, or comparable platforms.
- Experience with transportation management systems and warehouse management systems.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel, reporting, data analysis, dashboard development, and KPI management skills.
- Knowledge of U.S. transportation regulations and logistics compliance practices.
- Knowledge of U.S. import, export, customs, and trade processes is preferred.
- Familiarity with California labor, environmental, and transportation regulations is desired where applicable.
- Experience leading process automation, Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement initiatives.
- Experience in high-technology, semiconductor, manufacturing, aerospace, healthcare, distribution, or another complex operating environment is preferred.
- Experience managing multi-site logistics operations is preferred.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- A bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
- APICS CPIM, CSCP, CLTD, or a comparable supply chain or logistics certification is preferred.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt, or a comparable continuous-improvement certification is desired.
