Logistics Operations Manager

Location: Belcamp, MD
Schedule: Monday-Friday, Full-Time (40-45 hours/week)
Salary: $80,000-$90,000 (with flexibility based on experience and alignment)


Position Summary

Our client is seeking a hands-on Logistics Operations Manager to lead customer service, logistics, and day-to-day operational activities while supervising a small team.

This role is responsible for ensuring exceptional customer experiences, coordinating domestic and international shipments, improving operational processes, and maintaining efficient supply chain operations.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in logistics and supply chain management, enjoys solving complex operational challenges, and thrives in a collaborative, customer-focused environment.


Key Responsibilities

Customer Experience

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customer order inquiries, shipment updates, and issue resolution
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders
  • Ensure timely, professional communication throughout the order fulfillment process
  • Resolve shipping and service-related issues with a focus on customer satisfaction

Logistics & Supply Chain

  • Coordinate domestic and international shipments, including ocean and air freight
  • Manage import/export documentation and ensure compliance with shipping regulations
  • Partner with freight carriers, customs brokers, warehouses, and vendors to ensure on-time delivery
  • Monitor inventory movement, shipment schedules, and transportation logistics
  • Identify opportunities to improve logistics efficiency and reduce costs

Operations & Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and support a team of 2-3 employees
  • Oversee daily operational workflows to ensure efficiency and accuracy
  • Develop and improve processes supporting customer service and logistics operations
  • Collaborate with leadership to prioritize work, allocate resources, and achieve business objectives
  • Track operational performance and drive continuous improvement

Compliance & Quality

  • Ensure adherence to company policies, standard operating procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Support quality initiatives and maintain accurate operational documentation
  • Partner with internal teams to promote continuous improvement and operational excellence

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in logistics, supply chain, operations, or distribution
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience
  • Strong knowledge of domestic and international shipping, import/export processes, and carrier management
  • Experience in manufacturing, distribution, food production, or a related industry preferred
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and relationship-building skills
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP/WMS systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with international freight, customs documentation, and import/export regulations
  • Knowledge of inventory management and warehouse operations
  • Experience with continuous improvement initiatives and process optimization
