See yourself at Wallenius Wilhelmsen.  We collaborate, we care, we challenge every day to keep the world in motion and transform logistics into a zero- emissions, carbon-free industry. Join us and make it happen.

The Logistics Operations Manager provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for inland logistics activities across North America, including last-mile, truck, and rail transportation. This role serves as the primary liaison between internal departments, external partners, carriers, contractors, and OEM stakeholders to ensure alignment and efficient execution. The position is also responsible for managing carrier and contractor performance across cost, service, capacity, communication, claims support, and on-time delivery reliability.

Job Description:

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Develop and execute transportation strategies across truck, rail, and last-mile operations to improve cost, service, capacity, delivery performance, and support Nissan North America and other customer supply chains.
  •   Partner with SCM, manufacturing, sales, finance, and customer teams to align transportation capacity with forecasted volume and business priorities, while leading long-term capacity planning for peak periods, production changes, new model launches, shutdowns, and market shifts.
  •   Manage carrier performance through scorecards, quarterly business reviews, corrective action plans, escalation processes, and accountability for on-time delivery, damage prevention, communication, capacity commitments, claims support, and cost compliance.
  •   Own transportation financial performance by managing costs against AOP, budget, forecast, and cost-per-unit targets, while leveraging data analytics, dashboards, and exception reporting to proactively mitigate risk and improve service.
  •   Lead transportation disruption management and recovery efforts, communicate impacts and countermeasures to leadership, drive system enhancements that improve visibility and automation, and develop team capability through coaching, training, succession planning, process discipline, and performance management.
Job Requirements:

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • Strong knowledge of logistics operations, supply chain strategy, transportation management, and TMS systems, including implementation and integration (TMS/EDI, WITs, and HOST).
  • Proven leadership experience managing teams, projects, partners, and large-scale logistics programs, with 5–7 years of planning and directing operations.
  • Strategic, data-driven decision maker with the ability to independently manage complex issues and drive continuous process improvements.
  • Exceptional communication, coordination, and project execution skills, with success working across cross-functional teams and external business partners.
