Description

General Statement Of Duties: Responsible for the inspection, stocking, fueling, and cleaning of Emergency Services vehicles and delivery of materials to EMS supply points. This position requires that the employee must have a proficient understanding of the materials and equipment used in our department.

Distinguishing Features Of The Class: The EMS Logistics Technician must check and resupply each EMS unit with materials and equipment as required. The employee is also responsible for cleaning the unit, checking all operational light and driving systems and ensuring that it has passed all required operational checks. The position will often be expected to carry out assignments without direct supervision. Must be able to use governing policies and regulations and general guidelines to guide decisions and actions.

Examples Of Duties

Essential Duties and Tasks

  • Checks out and stock missing/used supplies.
  • Checks vehicle inventory and expiration dates of all materials and equipment as required by departmental standards.
  • Transport emergency services vehicles as needed.
  • Resupplies vehicles with required materials and equipment before placing unit back in service.
  • Prepares and maintains supplies and equipment as required by departmental standards.
  • Completes all manual and computerized forms and reports, maintains records on equipment/supplies used and vehicle status.
  • Cleans and fuels the vehicles.
  • Delivers supplies to restock EMS supply points as directed.

Recruitment Standards Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • General knowledge of the equipment operation and materials utilized the department.
  • Ability to package supplies in provided bins and container.
  • Ability to inventory and supply assigned vehicles as directed.
  • Ability to deliver supplies to EMS supply points.
  • Ability to operate EMS units safely.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and communicate both verbally and in writing.

Typical Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: High school graduation or equivalent, and one year of experience related to logistics, warehouse supply, or inventory management services.

Special Requirements

  • Must obtain forklift operator license within 12 months of hire.
  • Must obtain Class B vehicle operator's license within 12 months of hire.
  • Must obtain ICS 100 & 700 within 3 months of hire.
  • Successfully complete EVD or county approved driving course within 6 months of hire.
  • AHA Heartsaver BLS/CPR Certification within 12 months of hire.
  • HazMat Awareness or county approved equivalent within 12 months of hire.

Supplemental Information

Driving is Essential: Driving is an essential requirement of this position whether driving a County owned or personal vehicle to conduct county business. Motor Vehicle Reports may be verified for valid driver's license and that the driving record is compatible with the county's driving criteria. If a personal vehicle is operated for county business proper insurance is maintained as per Guilford County's vehicle use policy.
