Job Description

Lombardi Middle School is seeking a Musical Assistant Director for the 2026-27 school year. The heart and soul of Lombardi Middle School is our academic achievement. The hard work our students and staff put in continues to pay dividends for our community. The primary goal of the Musical Assistant Director is to assist the Musical Director in coordinating, scheduling, and managing all aspects of a musical performance.

Examples of Specific Responsibilities:

Assists the Musical Director with the following:

  • Reads and selects the musical using the following criteria:

  • Consider potential of cast members

  • Acceptability of material to the principal

  • Availability of staging area

  • Equipment

  • Royalty cost

  • Runs announcements to encourage student participation.

  • Schedules and conducts tryouts.

  • Selects cast, crew, and student assistant(s).

  • Schedules and conducts rehearsals.

  • Selects props and costumes.

  • Organizes and supervises committees:

  • Makeup

  • Programs

  • Publicity

  • Stage Crew

  • Properties and lighting

  • Ticket takers

  • Plans and implements post-musical clean up.

  • Distributes Drama awards.

  • Arranges for transportation to "guest" schools or "festival"performances.

Working Conditions:

  • Plans with others to determine how organizationally to best meet the needs of those serviced.
  • Flexibility in adjusting to continuously changing situations.
  • Work involves travel within the District.
