Long Term ELA Teacher (7th/8th Grade)

The Merton Community School District seeks an exceptional and passionate long term 7th/8th Grade English Language Arts (ELA) teacher at Merton Intermediate School. There are two (2) block sections of 8th Grade ELA and one (1) block section of 7th Grade ELA. The position will run through the remaining 2026-27 School Year.

Merton is located in Waukesha County, approximately 25 miles west of Milwaukee and 55 miles east of Madison.

Merton Intermediate School is a vibrant school of approximately 360 students specifically designed to cater to the academic, social, and emotional development of young learners ranging from fifth to eighth grade. Merton Intermediate is more than just a school; it''s a nurturing environment where children learn, grow, and form the foundation for strong academic and career preparation ahead of high school.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have:

• Love for children, with an appreciation for the joys and challenges that come with teaching children at this age.Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education.
• Valid teaching license.
• Seeks a free exchange of ideas, who is willing to have difficult conversations in service of children, and who comes to the table with a solution-based disposition.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and seek out opportunities for mentorship and instructional coaching.
• Openness to feedback and willingness to continuously improve teaching and professional practices.
• Previous experience working with elementary/intermediate school students is preferred.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
