Long-Term Substitute Teacher: High School Science Starting August 31, 2026 through September 23, 2026 Westford Academy is seeking a dedicated, high-energy, and academically rigorous Long-Term Substitute Science Teacher to join our faculty for the start of the school year. The position is primarily structured as a biology teacher with a section of chemistry. Key Responsibilities:
- Instructional Delivery: Execute engaging, standards-aligned lesson plans for College Prep and Honors levels of Biology, Chemistry, and Marine Biology.
- Laboratory Management: Lead safe and effective lab experiments. You'll be responsible for setup, supervising student safety protocols, and ensuring proper disposal.
- Assessment & Grading: Maintain the existing teacher's grading scales, provide timely feedback via the PowerSchool portal, and proctor exams.
- Classroom Culture: Maintain a productive, inclusive, and disciplined learning environment consistent with Westford Academy's standards.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, or Secondary Education (Science) is required. A Master's degree is preferred.
- Certification: Valid Massachusetts DESE licensure in Biology or Chemistry (8-12) is highly preferred.
- Adaptability: The ability to pivot between the quantitative nature of Chemistry and the observational nature of Marine Biology.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal skills for collaborating with department heads and communicating with parents regarding student progress.
