The Belchertown Public Schools is accepting applications for a long term substitute Athletic Trainer: 6 Week Assignment
Responsibilities
- Nature and Scope of Job: To provide athletic training services to student athletes engaged in interscholastic athletic activities which are conducted by Belchertown High School
- Provide and assist with preventative programs as needed, including
- Supervision of rehabilitation
- Appropriate application of protective taping, padding, wrapping, bracing, or dressing
- Maintain accurate records of injuries and treatments;
- Provide appropriate preventive services
- Make appropriate medical referrals to physician when warranted and inform parents, school nurse, and athletic director of said referrals
- Develop and maintain Plan of Care with School Nurse and School Physician, when applicable
- Communicate with ambulance services, EMT's and all medical staff, when appropriate
- Develop and maintain protocols for emergency care with the approval of the School Nurse and Athletic Director; keeping coaches informed of the Emergency Action Plan
- Develop and maintain updated concussion guidelines with the District Physician
- Keep a cooperative working relationship with the School nurses and any other member of the medical staff
- Help maintain updated clearance lists
- Be aware of any medical condition of student athletes and their Individual Plan of Care for athletics
- Ensure that the training room is maintained in an orderly, functional, and sanitary manner
- Create and keep a positive training room environment for all student-athletes
- Attend athletic events in accordance with a schedule developed in consultation with the athletic director
- Provide Athletic training services during said athletic contests to visiting teams as well
- Develop and maintain a budget for the athletic training supplies
- Be the liaison between student-athlete, parents, coaches, physicians, and specialists
- Ensure the safety and well being of all student athletes on and off the field
- Ensure the adherence to the MIAA and district policies regarding athletic participation and play with respect to medical safety and clearance
- Protect the confidentiality of records and information about student athletes
- Assist the Athletic Director as requested to perform other duties and responsibilities that are within the scope and law of athletic training
- Administer and maintain records of all concussion-related testing and protocols, communicating with the school nurse with respect to any clearance/return to play and/or full academic participation
- Communicate needs and concerns to parents in a timely manner in reference to injuries
