    Description

    Abington Public Schools is looking for a Long-Term Substitute (LTS) Wellness (Health & PE) Teacher who values equity and social emotional learning and provides access to engaging learning experiences for all students. A solid understanding of the MA K-4 Arts Framework is required. The elementary Wellness Teacher will be part of the specials rotation at both elementary schools. Qualified candidates will have demonstrated success in building and sustaining strong relationships with students and families, and value ongoing collaboration with colleagues. A solid understanding of the MA Comprehensive Health and Physical Education Framework is required. Experience implementing strategies to support Multilingual Learners is preferred. This LTS position is scheduled for 8/31/26 to on or about 11/5/26.

    Qualified candidates will:

    • Be creative and innovative and believe that all students can develop lifelong wellness habits, physical literacy, and the knowledge and skills necessary to lead healthy, active lives.
    • Have strengths in integrating health and physical education across the curriculum, promoting social-emotional learning and wellness, and possess knowledge of fitness, nutrition, personal health, movement concepts, team and individual activities, and culturally responsive practices in physical education.
    • Provide a safe, inclusive, and welcoming learning environment for all learners
    • Create lesson plans, aligned with current state and district standards, which drive instruction through formative assessment and differentiation
    • Incorporate strategies that support Multilingual Learners into every learning activity
    • Communicate effectively with students, families, colleagues, and administrators
