Position Summary: The Paraprofessional position assists the certified staff members in creating a positive learning environment to facilitate the personal, social-emotional, behavioral and intellectual development of all students. This position is an integral part of the educational team because of the support given to the students to promote achievement and success while in school.
Qualifications: High School Diploma or above. Demonstrated ability to work successfully with children and adults. Ability to perform assigned duties. Ability to work collaboratively and follow directions. Understanding of child growth and development as applied to the diverse needs of students. Knowledge and ability to use technology and related software. Good interpersonal skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Job Goal: To assist the classroom teacher by working with individual or small groups of students to provide them with educational, physical and emotional support.
Performance Responsibilities:
Technology Skills: Proficient in software applications related to role, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Google Suite, Frontline, and Genesis Employee Portal and Student Information System
Evaluation of Performance: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with the New Jersey Administrative Code and Board of Education policy.
Physical Demands:
Paraprofessionals may, at any time, be reassigned to another location or student(s) based on district and student needs. The physical demands of this position include but are not limited to bending, pushing, and moving. Staff members must be able to walk for extended distances and accompany students as needed. lifting may include supporting students during toileting or moving from one space to another. Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a variety of standard office equipment and classroom learning tools. Personal care for students may be required, this includes but is not limited to, feeding, toileting, other tasks involving cleanliness for a student. Moving quickly may be required to support students who may elope. Clarity of vision at varying distances to monitor student's behavior during classroom activities. Verbal, auditory, and written capabilities may also be required.

Terms of Employment:
10-month contract, renewed annually. Salary and benefits as determined by the Board of Education and any applicable collective bargaining agreement.
