Notre Dame Academy is seeking a dedicated and qualified individual for a full-time, long-term substitute School Counselor position for grades 9-12.

Start Date: August 17, 2026

End Date: November 9, 2026

Position Summary

The Long-Term Substitute School Counselor will work as an integral member of a comprehensive school counseling department, serving the academic and social/emotional needs of high school students within the context of a Catholic faith community. The role requires a commitment to working with diverse student populations and utilizing a trauma-informed approach. The successful candidate must be able to work effectively both independently and collaboratively with all members of the counseling department, school administration, staff, students, and parents/guardians.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of this role include:

  • Managing the academic progress and social/emotional well-being of an assigned portion of the student body (caseload), consistent with the mission of educating the whole person.Assisting ninth-grade students in their successful transition to high school.
  • Assisting with developing Advisory programing focused on student needs (e.g., FAFSA, mental health topics, post-secondary planning)
  • Coordinating and assisting with the administration of standardized testing (e.g., Pre-ACT, PSAT).
  • Providing crisis intervention and referral services as needed.
  • Collaborating with teachers, administrators, and parents/guardians to support student success and positive school climate.
  • Maintaining accurate and confidential student records in compliance with legal requirements and ethical standards.
  • Actively participating in professional development and school/departmental meetings.

Qualifications

Required

  • Master''s degree in School Counseling or a related field.

Preferred

  • Current Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction certification as a School Counselor.

  • Candidates with relevant certifications such as Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), School Social Worker certification, or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) may be considered.
