Valid N.J. Educational Services Certificate and School Social Worker Endorsement
Goal:
The School Social Worker shall provide significant information regarding the home environment and family background of pupils referred to the Child Study Team. The School Social Worker will also serve as a liaison between the school and the home. Additionally, the School Social Worker is also the Attendance Officer and Transportation Coordinator.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development of the Individualized Education Plan for classified students as prescribed by 6:28, Title VI of the New Jersey Administrative Code
- Coordinate related services for those specific students designated for the Social Worker to case manage
- Provide a communication link between the Child Study Team and outside professionals and/or agencies
- Provide counsel to any professional staff member regarding the family, home, and community factors which contribute to a particular pupil's adjustment to school
- Provide counsel to parents and/or pupils who may need help in understanding the demands of the educational setting and/or needed community services
- As needed, confer with parents and/or staff members concerning student progress
- Display a reasonable working relationship with other members of the staff as well as administrators
- Develop positive interpersonal relationships with students
- Keep abreast of current educational developments, particularly in the area of school social work
- Engage in the development of staff improvement programs and participate in those programs which bear on the areas of assigned responsibilities
- Cooperate in implementing and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and board policies
- Perform reasonable duties which may be necessary to ensure proper functioning of the educational program of the district and which are incident to the position of Social Worker
- Maintain knowledge of and abide by all regulations impacting on Special Education programs, policies, and procedures
Compensation
- Long-term substitute rate is $170 per day, not benefit eligible
- On guide at day 61 and then negotiable based upon experience
