Ashland Middle School is seeking a dynamic, student-centered Long-Term Substitute Teacher to teach Grade 7 Engineering from end of August through December 2026.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging, hands-on engineering instruction that fosters creativity, problem-solving, collaboration, and critical thinking. The position includes planning and implementing lessons aligned with district curriculum, assessing student learning, maintaining a positive classroom environment, and collaborating with colleagues to support student success.
Responsibilities
- Teach Grade 7 Engineering classes using established curriculum and instructional materials.
- Create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.
- Facilitate hands-on engineering and design challenges that encourage student inquiry and innovation.
- Assess student progress and provide timely feedback.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student performance.
- Communicate effectively with students, families, and staff.
- Collaborate with grade-level teams and participate in faculty meetings and professional responsibilities as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor''s degree required.
- Massachusetts teaching license in Technology/Engineering preferred. Math or science license also acceptable.
- Experience teaching middle school students preferred.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Ability to foster positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
- Commitment to creating an equitable and inclusive learning environment.
