Long Term Substitute Teacher

Treffert Way is searching for a long term substitute teacher in our 2nd-3rd grade classroom, for the end of November - February. This person will support regular and special education students in a multi-age classroom where student strengths and interests are incorporated into projects and learning throughout the day. Treffet Way has a four day student week. Fridays are virtual or off for our families. Staff use Fridays for collaborative work and preparing for the following week.

Licensure Needed:

Applicants must possess one or more of the following - dual certification preferred:

A. Early Childhood: Regular and/or Special Ed. (K-3)

B. Elementary and Middle School (K-8)

C. Cross Categorical Special Ed. (PK-12)

Compensation

$120 per day

Your role is to come to school prepared to be the best version of yourself, as an individual who is concerned for others and gives respect to all. Enter each day curious and work to contribute as well as demonstrate your skills. Specific skills include:

• Understand and implement the Treffert Approach within classroom instruction
• Design learning objectives, prepare lesson plans, and deliver lessons to students in academics, social, and formative skills utilizing various strategies and students' strengths
• Help develop and report on a Treffert Approach Plan for all students in your advisory
• Adapt teaching methods and strategies to meet the unique learning styles of students
• Track and report student performance and progress
• Teach students how to use tools and resources to regulate themselves
• Teach and encourage problem solving skills in real time
• Build independence and academic skills
• Teach and practice social and interpersonal skills throughout the day in real time
• Support students during recess and lunch
• For special education teachers: Compose, formulate, and facilitate IEP meetings following federal law mandates and timelines for students assigned to your caseload.
• Deliver and evaluate services outlined in the IEP plan to students and families.
• Collaborate and communicate with others that include: families, administration, coworkers, community and board members
• Maintain confidentiality, treating all information about students and families in strictest confidence
• Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings and attend special training as needed. Share training experiences and knowledge of programs and materials with fellow educators and associates
• Other duties as assigned
