Global Preparatory Academy (GPA) is a dual-language school that brings together students from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds in a rigorous, engaging, and nurturing environment.

Using both English and Spanish to instruct students across core content areas, GPA develops high levels of bilingualism and biliteracy while fostering a deep appreciation for other cultures. Through critical thinking, global perspectives, and experiential learning, our scholars are prepared to lead in an interconnected world.

POSITION SUMMARY

Global Preparatory Academy is seeking a full-time Long-Term Substitute Teacher for grades 6-8 to provide consistent, high-quality instruction and classroom leadership throughout the school year.

This is not a traditional day-to-day substitute position. Long-Term Substitute Teachers are full-time members of the GPA team and provide consistent instructional coverage based on the needs of the school. This may include supporting a classroom during an extended teacher absence, filling a teacher vacancy, or providing instructional support across middle school classrooms and content areas.

Long-Term Substitute Teachers are expected to maintain strong classroom culture, deliver GPA's curriculum, support student learning, and collaborate with teachers and school leaders.

Prior classroom teaching experience is preferred but not required. GPA will provide professional development, instructional training, coaching, and ongoing support to prepare Long-Term Substitute Teachers to successfully lead middle school instruction.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Deliver rigorous instruction using GPA curriculum, instructional materials, and established lesson plans.
• Facilitate learning in assigned middle school content areas and support students in meeting grade-level academic expectations.
• Establish and maintain clear classroom routines, procedures, and behavioral expectations.
• Create an engaging, culturally responsive learning environment appropriate for adolescent learners.
• Take and accurately report daily student attendance.
• Monitor student learning and provide timely feedback and academic support.
• Adapt instruction to meet varying student learning needs.
• Motivate students to actively engage and participate in classroom instruction.
• Build positive, developmentally appropriate relationships with middle school students.
• Collaborate with content-area teachers, grade-level teams, and instructional leaders.
• Develop or modify lesson plans with instructional support when providing extended classroom coverage.
• Administer and grade assignments, assessments, and other student work as required.
• Maintain accurate student records and communicate academic or behavioral concerns to appropriate school leaders.
• Reinforce GPA's schoolwide culture and behavioral expectations.
• Participate in required professional development, instructional training, coaching, staff meetings, and schoolwide activities.
• Follow all GPA policies, procedures, curriculum expectations, and student safety requirements.
• Provide instructional or classroom support in other areas of the school as needed.

• Commitment to GPA's mission and dual-language educational model.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must possess or be eligible to obtain a valid Indiana Substitute Permit.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Previous experience working with middle school students or in an educational environment preferred.
• Content-area knowledge or experience preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT & SUPPORT

At GPA, we believe strong educators are developed through intentional training, coaching, and support. Long-Term Substitute Teachers will participate in professional development and receive ongoing instructional training, curriculum support, coaching, and feedback from GPA's instructional leadership team.
