GRPS MISSION Our mission is to ensure that all scholars are educated self-directed and productive members of society.This is a Grant-Funded non-tenured position continued employment under the terms of this grant is contingent upon continued fundingActivity Leader – LOOP ProgramDepartment Office of Extended Learning OEL Unit No Benefits Wage 20.00 per hourDirect Supervisor Director of Office of Extended LearningJOB SUMMARYThe Activity Leader will assist the Site Coordinator in the planning developing and implementing of classroom activities for after school programs at local schools. This position requires face-to-face leadership in this program and may involve early morning responsibilities.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSEssential functions under the Americans with Disabilities Act may include any of the following duties knowledge and skills. Other essential functions may include but are not limited to the followingProgram Management ResponsibilitiesAssist in developing and leading daily lesson plans.Participate and assist in daily classroom activities.Provide weekly lesson plans to the Site Coordinator.Provide each participant&rsquos parent with information on individual activities daily.Prepare materials for daily activities.Maintain records of attendance arrival times and departure times.Always maintain supervision of children.Attend all meetings trainings and program planning sessions scheduled andor specified by the Office of Extended Learning OEL.Maintains a safe environment.Enforces all rules regulations policies and procedures.Uses positive behavior interventions supportsSEL methods recommend or initiate other measures to correct behavior.Please Note All GRPS LOOP sites are licensed by the State of Michigan and operate under all guidelines and policies as outlined in the MiLEAP Licensing Rules for Child Care Centers Manual.QUALIFICATIONSRequired Education and ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent1-year childcare or youth-related experience or equivalent combination of education training and experienceBe at least 18 years of agePrior to working with scholars in a structured program setting must complete MiLEAP PA116 mandated requirementsComprehensive Childcare Background Check CCBC including fingerprinting by MiLEAP approved agencies.Obtain CCBC eligibility to work in a licensed childcare facility.Complete MiRegistry Health and Safety Online Modules A B C and Transportation or annual Health and Safety Refresher Course submit learning record transcript to Office of Extended Learning upon completion.Module A MUST be completed before working with scholars.Obtain First Aid Certification and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation CPR by MiLEAP approved agencies submit ARCAHA certificatecard to Office of Extended Learning upon completion.Valid state issued ID.Fingerprinting required by hiring agency.Child AbuseNeglect Central Registry Check.Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds ages and lifestylesAbility and desire to work with elementary andor middle school childrenWorking knowledge of computers.Additional Qualifications Reliable transportation.Preferred QualificationsSupervisory experience.Knowledge Skills and Abilities Excellent communication skills.Strong organizational and planning skills.Strong collaborative and team-building skills ability to work as part of a team.Ability to coordinate volunteer and program-delivery efforts.Human relations skills including the ability to work with a diverse group of scholars parents administrators teachers volunteers and community members.Creative problem-solving skills.Knowledge of youth development developmental assets.Good computer skills including email word processing spreadsheet software etc.Consistently demonstrate dependable attendance and punctuality.ADA REQUIREMENTSThe physical demands work environment factors and mental functions described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Turns stoops climbs bends pushes pulls reaches for and carries materials and equipment in the performance of tasks. Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds. Must be able to work outside for extended periods up to the entire eight-hour shift in all weather conditions. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision and ability to adjust focus.WORK ENVIRONMENTThe noise level in the work environment is usually loud to moderate. Work is performed indoors although there will be required outdoor activities.
