Job Summary:

The Director of Education and Work-Based Learning at Loretto Heights will lead and create educational work-based learning experiences for the Venue Management and Operations Associate in Applied Science degree program at the Loretto Heights theater, an off-campus professionally staffed and run theater and teaching/learning facility serving Loretto Heights and the greater surrounding community. The director will have experience creating competency-based educational programs and work-based learning experiences. This position will work closely with the theater venue's professional staff to coordinate, track, and record on the job learning experiences for the part-time student employee program cohort. Additionally, the director will manage the academic student experience and partner with other CCD divisions such as student services and workforce initiatives to ensure holistic student support.

Operations at Loretto Heights are rooted in a workforce training and educational mission, using the venue as a hands-on learning environment for students pursuing careers in venue management, live events, and production management. The ideal candidate will bring an open mind, enthusiasm, and a genuine passion for mentoring and educating emerging professionals through a well-rounded, real-world training program. Success in this role requires a commitment to balancing operational excellence with student development while advancing Loretto Heights' mission of community-centered programming and equitable access to arts, culture, education, and events for all.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Administrative Duties

• Schedule and staff courses in the venue management and operations degree program
• Manage and organize the day-to-day operations of student work-based learning initiatives in conjunction with venue staff
• Assist students with advising, registration, progression through the program, and other student support needs
• Serve as a liaison between the Loretto Heights venue and Community College of Denver academic affairs division and pathway dean
• Engage in college and venue data tracking and reporting efforts
• Collaborate with other departments including student services and workforce initiatives to create opportunities for student success
• Oversee college curriculum review, program review, and assessment processes and engage in data-driven decision-making to improve student learning outcomes
• Represent the academic program at college and community meetings and events, actively engaging with stakeholders and community partners
• Communicate, present, and respond to questions about the academic program from internal and external stakeholders and prospective students
• Manage, coach, and evaluate assigned program faculty, instructors, and staff
• Assist with budget and purchasing as needed
• Plan and conduct prospective student recruitment events
• Manage and co-lead an industry-driven advisory board that helps shape direction and ensure alignment with need

Curriculum Development Duties

• Create a competency-based curriculum and work-based learning experiences for students that map to the degree's course outcomes and align with the operational needs of the venue
• Create and maintain a system to track individual student mastery of competencies associated with courses in the program
• Align degree program curriculum and experiences with industry, college, state, and federal needs and regulations

Teaching Duties:

• Teach or co-teach courses in the degree program as needed and if qualified

• Strong organizational, collaborative, and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to work with diverse populations, internal (college and venue) and external (community)
• Ability to balance administrative, curricular, and instructional responsibilities concurrently
• Commitment to equity, access, and student success in a diverse, first-generation student population
• Ability to work independently, troubleshoot, meet deadlines, and effectively manage assigned workload

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

• Associate's degree in event planning/management, technical theater, performing arts, hospitality, business, education, or related field

Experience:

• Minimum three (3) years full-time experience working in the event planning/management, performing arts, business, venue operations/management, entertainment trade, or higher education
• Experience managing curriculum and academic programs

Equipment Used: Computer, MS Office Suite, learning management system, video conferencing

Other Considerations: Some evening and weekend hours may be required to support operations and industry events. Additionally, alternative holiday flex schedule may be required to meet demand of venue of operations during times the college may officially observe holidays.

Preferred Qualifications:

Education:

• Bachelor or master's degree in event planning/management, technical theater, performing arts, hospitality, business, higher education administration, curriculum and instruction, or related field

Experience:

• Five (5) to seven (7) years full-time experience working in the event planning/management, performing arts, business, venue operations/management, entertainment trade, or higher education
• Experience creating and managing competency-based educational programs, apprenticeship, and/or integrating work-based learning experiences into curriculum
• Teaching experience in community college or higher education setting
• Administrative experience in an educational setting
• Experience partnering with external agencies and community groups
