Low Speed - Superintendent Engineer
Summary: Responsible for leading the safe and successful execution of maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, overhaul, and modernization projects for diesel engines, turbochargers, and related equipment in marine, power generation, and industrial applications.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Lead field service projects involving installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, overhaul, modernization, and commissioning of primarily Dual Fuel diesel engines, turbochargers, and related equipment.
Serve as the technical authority and primary customer contact during project execution.
Investigate warranty claims, determine root causes, and propose repair or replacement solutions for approval.
Plan and ensure the availability of service personnel and spare parts to meet contractual service commitments.
Provide expert-level technical support to customers and internal teams on operational challenges and troubleshooting.
Manage project scope, schedule, quality, and resource requirements to ensure successful completion.
Interpret technical manuals, engineering drawings, specifications, and procedures.
Diagnose mechanical, operational, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic control system issues.
Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company procedures, technical standards, and customer requirements.
Act as Project Manager for major overhaul and repair projects, coordinating all stakeholders and following established communication protocols.
Prepare and submit accurate service reports and project documentation within required deadlines.
Maintain current knowledge of technical updates, product improvements, and service procedures.
Lead, direct, and supervise assigned mechanics, technicians, contractors, and subcontractors.
Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
Conduct pre-job briefings, toolbox talks, and technical handover meetings.
Provide coaching, mentoring, and technical training to mechanics and service technicians.
Promote knowledge sharing and best practices across the service organization.
Monitor team performance and foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
Lead by example and promote a proactive safety culture at all times.
Conduct job hazard analyses (JHAs), risk assessments, and pre-job safety reviews.
Verify compliance with company HSEQ policies, customer requirements, industry standards, and local regulations.
Ensure proper use, inspection, and maintenance of tools, lifting devices, equipment, and PPE.
Monitor compliance with:
Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures
Confined space requirements
Working-at-heights procedures
Rigging and lifting practices
Hot work requirements
Environmental regulations
Permit-to-work systems
Stop any activity that presents an unacceptable safety or quality risk.
Report and document all incidents, near misses, non-conformances (NCRs), and safety observations.
Identify hazards at customer sites and work proactively with customers to eliminate or mitigate risks.
Develop and maintain strong customer relationships through professional communication and technical support.
Respond to customer inquiries, including emergency support outside normal business hours when required.
Provide technical recommendations and service solutions that enhance customer operations.
Support sales activities by identifying opportunities for additional services, repairs, upgrades, and modernization projects.
Collaborate with Sales, Workshop Managers, Coordinators, and Regional Leadership to develop business opportunities.
Assist with customer follow-up activities and service planning.
Accurately document labor hours, service activities, expenses, and project progress.
Complete timesheets, expense reports, and project allocations within established deadlines.
Maintain scheduling systems and project tracking tools.
Support accurate and timely customer invoicing through proper job documentation.
Ensure responsible management of travel expenses and company resources.
Use corporate credit cards and company assets in accordance with company policies.
Obtain required approvals for purchases and project expenditures.

Work Environments & Physical Requirements:
This position involves extensive domestic and international travel, often on short notice. Transportation may include automobiles, commercial aircraft, trains, vessels, launch boats, and, when required, helicopters.
The Superintendent Engineer must be physically capable of working in industrial facilities, shipyards, power plants, offshore environments, and operating engine rooms.
