Location: Farmers Branch, TX (Dallas–Fort Worth Area) Job Type: Full-Time Work Location: On-site Travel: Approximately 25% (primarily local DFW with occasional out-of-market travel)
This is not a job for someone who needs a supervisor on the phone. When a restaurant calls 30 minutes before opening and says "the internet's down" or "the phones don't work," you're the one who walks in, finds out why, fixes it, and tells us what happened. If you'd rather call someone and wait, this isn't the role for you.
What You’ll Do
Own the site. Once you're dispatched, the problem is yours until it's fixed, or until you've proven exactly where the fault is (ISP circuit, carrier, hosted voice provider) and gotten that party moving.
Troubleshoot from symptom to root cause.
"No internet": check the circuit, the modem/ONT, the router WAN, the switch, DHCP/DNS, and cabling.
"Phones down": check power/PoE, VLANs, registration, firewall/SIP, and the carrier.
Isolate in order. Don't guess.
Build and install: MDF/IDF racks, routers, switches, patch panels, WAPs, cameras, VoIP phones, POS, digital menu boards, audio, and access control.
Cable: pull, terminate, test, and label Cat5e/Cat6 and coax. Extend circuits from the DMARC/MPOE. Terminate on 66/110 blocks.
Close out before you leave the site: photos, notes, and a plain-English summary of what was wrong, what you did, and what's still open.
What ownership means here:
You call the ISP yourself, open the ticket, and push for an ETA. You don't wait for the office to do it.
If something's missing on site, you find a way to solve it. You don't drive home.
You escalate for three reasons only:
Safety
A change in scope or cost
You've run out of troubleshooting steps and can say exactly what you've ruled out. "It's not working" is not an escalation.
You tell us about your own mistakes before we find them.
