Description: Low Voltage Helper
TradeSTAR is hiring Low Voltage Helpers for commercial low-voltage and structured cabling projects throughout the Austin area. These positions support commercial construction, infrastructure upgrades, tenant finish-outs, and technology installations in active commercial environments.
This is a great opportunity for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience in the low-voltage industry while working alongside experienced technicians on commercial projects.
Job Responsibilities
Assist technicians with installation of low-voltage systems in commercial facilities
Pull and route low-voltage cabling through conduit, cable tray, J-hooks, sleeves, and structured pathways
Assist with installation of voice and data cabling, security systems, access control devices, CCTV systems, and fire alarm infrastructure
Support cable dressing, labeling, pathway organization, and telecommunications room cleanup
Assist with mounting devices, rack buildouts, and basic terminations
Follow blueprints, floor plans, and installation layouts under technician supervision
Maintain clean and safe work areas on active commercial job sites
Assist with material handling, inventory organization, and job site preparation
Follow commercial construction safety standards and low-voltage installation best practices
Technical Requirements
6 months to 1 year of construction, low-voltage, electrical, or cable installation experience preferred
Basic knowledge of hand tools and power tools
Ability to work from ladders and lifts in commercial environments
Strong work ethic and willingness to learn low-voltage systems and installation methods
Ability to work in fast-paced commercial construction environments
Reliable transportation required
Preferred Experience
Commercial construction projects
Cable pulling and pathway installation
Structured cabling or low-voltage helper experience
Experience working with voice/data, security, or fire alarm systems
Compensation & Benefits
$18 $19/hour depending on experience
