Low Voltage / Network Infrastructure & Access Control Technician (Contract)

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Low Voltage / Network Infrastructure & Access Control Technician to support commercial IT infrastructure projects involving structured cabling, network cabinet installations, Wi-Fi and security camera deployments, and electronic door access systems.

The ideal candidate has experience installing low-voltage cabling, mounting network equipment, relocating network cabinets, terminating Cat6 cabling, installing access control hardware, and ensuring clean, professional installations. This is a hands-on field role requiring attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to work independently while coordinating with clients and project managers.

This position focuses on physical installation and infrastructure deployment. Configuration of network equipment, wireless access points, and cameras will be completed by the client.


Key Responsibilities

Structured Cabling

  • Install, pull, label, terminate, and test Cat5e/Cat6 cabling
  • Install new data drops for wireless access points, cameras, workstations, and network equipment
  • Terminate patch panels, keystone jacks, and patch cords
  • Maintain cable management standards and proper labeling
  • Verify cable continuity and performance through testing

Network Infrastructure

  • Relocate and install network cabinets and wall-mounted racks
  • Mount and organize switches, UPS systems, and patch panels
  • Re-terminate existing network cabling during cabinet relocations
  • Assist with ISP cutovers and network cabinet migrations
  • Maintain organized rack layouts and cable management

Wireless & Camera Installation

  • Install and mount wireless access points
  • Mount security cameras
  • Install required cabling back to network cabinets
  • Ensure proper placement and clean cable routing

Note: Device adoption and software configuration are performed by the client.

Access Control Installation

  • Install electronic door readers and door hubs
  • Install and wire electric strikes
  • Wire Request-to-Exit (REX) and Request-to-Enter (REN) devices
  • Configure door schedules, user groups, and reader assignments within UniFi Access
  • Test access control functionality and door operation

Project Execution

  • Follow project scope, floor plans, and wiring diagrams
  • Coordinate work with project managers and client contacts
  • Complete installations according to industry best practices
  • Document completed work and report project progress
  • Maintain clean, organized job sites

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of commercial low-voltage installation experience
  • Experience installing structured cabling
  • Experience terminating Cat5e/Cat6
  • Experience mounting network equipment
  • Experience installing patch panels
  • Experience relocating network cabinets
  • Knowledge of Ethernet networking fundamentals
  • Ability to read floor plans and wiring diagrams
  • Experience using cable certification or testing equipment
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Professional customer communication

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Ubiquiti UniFi products
  • Experience with UniFi Access
  • Experience installing electronic door access systems
  • Experience with electric strikes
  • Experience installing IP cameras
  • Experience with wireless access point installations
  • Experience supporting commercial office build-outs
  • OSHA 10/30 Certification (preferred)
