About the Role

As a Low Voltage Estimator (I/II/III) you will be responsible for supporting preconstruction efforts by reviewing plans and specifications, performing accurate quantity take-offs, and entering data into estimating software. This role operates under the guidance the Chief Estimator to contribute to the development of comprehensive and competitive project estimates.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Review project specifications and construction plans to support accurate estimating
  • Perform precise quantity take-offs and input data into estimating software
  • Assist in developing detailed estimates based on conceptual design documents
  • Create pricing worksheets and bills of materials using Excel or other tools
  • Draft scope narratives to accompany estimate documentation
  • Support the preparation and evaluation of vendor bid packages
  • Contribute to the internal estimate review process
  • Conduct site visits to ensure estimating methods align with real-world construction practices
  • Assist with department maintenance, including Accubid Enterprise (Accubid Anywhere) database updates, vendor contact management, and permit calculator revisions
  • Demonstrate a willingness to pursue certification in relevant manufacturer technologies

To perform the job of Estimator II successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following additional duties in addition to all of the Project Engineer I and II requirements.

  • Leverage industry experience to assess manufacturer specifications, ensuring alignment with customer requirements and appropriate pricing
  • Apply construction knowledge to evaluate project timelines and incorporate schedule-related considerations into estimating processes

To perform the job of Estimator III successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following additional duties in addition to all of the Project Engineer I and II requirements.

  • Independently develop complex, multi-scope estimates with accuracy and confidence
  • Serve as a knowledgeable industry resource, available to engage with directors and clients to clarify estimating strategies and details

We are looking for someone with the following competencies:

  • Estimator I: Minimum of 3 years of experience in the low-voltage electrical or security construction industry, with a solid understanding of LV electrical theory, installation practices, or advanced computer skills
  • Estimator II/III: Possession of a Washington State 06 Limited Energy License (or equivalent) and/or relevant certifications from security manufacturers or industry-recognized training programs
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting construction plans and technical specifications
  • Strong mathematical skills, including the ability to perform calculations using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Preferred working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local regulations
