Description

Position Summary

The Lower School Art Teacher at All Saints Episcopal School is responsible for cultivating

creativity, artistic skill, and aesthetic appreciation in students in Lower School (K-4). In

alignment with the school's mission to provide a college-preparatory education grounded in

Christian values, the teacher fosters imagination, confidence, discipline, and character through a

structured and inspiring visual arts program.

As a member of the Lower School faculty, the Art Teacher contributes actively to the spiritual,

academic, and cultural life of the school and models professionalism, integrity, joy, and respect

for every child.

Primary Responsibilities

Instruction & Curriculum

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive, developmentally appropriate visual arts

curriculum aligned with the mission, vision, and philosophy of All Saints.

  • Teach foundational art concepts, principles of design, art vocabulary, and a wide range of

media and techniques.

  • Introduce students to significant artists, art history, and global traditions.
  • Encourage creative thinking, problem-solving, and personal expression.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet individual student needs.
  • Integrate art with classroom themes, service-learning initiatives, and cross-curricular

projects when appropriate.

  • Maintain clear learning objectives and documentation of student growth.

Student Growth & Character Development

  • Foster a respectful, inclusive classroom culture rooted in Christian values and mutual

respect.

  • Encourage intellectual curiosity, creative risk-taking, and confidence.• Support students' social-emotional growth through artistic exploration and constructive

critique.

  • Assess student progress using portfolios, project-based evaluation, and observation.
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback and communicate effectively with parents

regarding student development.

Classroom & Studio Leadership

  • Maintain a safe, organized, and inspiring art studio environment.
  • Teach responsible use and stewardship of materials.
  • Oversee inventory management and ordering of supplies in alignment with budget

guidelines.

  • Display student artwork throughout campus to celebrate excellence and school pride.
  • Coordinate art showcases, chapel displays, or campus exhibitions that highlight student

achievement.

Community & Professional Engagement

  • Collaborate with Lower School faculty and administrators to support academic

excellence and mission integration.

  • Participate fully in faculty meetings, professional development, chapel, and school

events.

  • Support admissions events, open houses, and community outreach initiatives.
  • Serve as a positive ambassador for All Saints within the Lubbock community.
  • Engage in ongoing professional growth in both art education and independent school best

practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or related field.
  • Teaching certification required.
  • Experience teaching elementary-aged students preferred.
  • Understanding of child development and age-appropriate instructional strategies.
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build a structured, skills-based arts program.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of All Saints Episcopal School.
