First Grade Teacher
Reports To: Associate Head of School

Salary Range: $52,500 - $62,500

On-Site/In-Person

Our private, independent school in San Diego is looking for a caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated First Grade Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate loves working with young children and creates a positive, engaging classroom where students can learn and grow.

Responsibilities

• Plan and teach daily lessons that support student learning and development

• Create a safe, welcoming, and engaging classroom environment

• Monitor and assess student progress and share updates with parents

• Adjust teaching methods to support different learning styles and needs

• Work closely with colleagues, parents, and school leadership

• Supervise students during recess, lunch, and/or dismissal periods each week

• Participate in school events, meetings, and professional development opportunities

• Maintain accurate student records and follow school policies

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field required

• Teaching credential preferred

• At least 2 years of experience teaching First Grade preferred

• Targeted training in reading and literacy development preferred

• Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills

• Commitment to supporting all students and fostering an inclusive classroom community

Physical Requirements

• Ability to move throughout the classroom and school campus during the school day

• Ability to occasionally lift and carry classroom materials or supplies weighing up to 25 pounds

Position Details

• Full-time position following the academic school year calendar

• Some evening or after-hours events may be required
