Title: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Clinical Intake & IV Placement
Schedule: Full Time,  Monday- Friday
Payrange: $26/HR-$34/HR (BOE)
Position Type: Temp- Perm
Location: Hudson Valley, NY

Join a top-rated, independent gastroenterology practice in the Hudson Valley where your skills directly impact patient well-being. Our client is a busy, highly respected, independent gastroenterology practice in the Hudson Valley featuring two dedicated physicians and a nurse practitioner. They pride themselves on delivering exceptional, specialized patient care in a supportive, highly organized environment. You will work alongside dedicated providers, a dedicated discharge nurse, and an organized administrative team that fully supports your role with structured daytime hours that respect your time.

Position Overview: As a Clinical Intake LPN, you are the engine of  clinical workflow. You will be responsible for the pre-examination and pre-procedure patient evaluation process, preparing  patients safely for their visits and clinical procedures

Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Comprehensive Clinical Intake: Escort patients to examination rooms, take accurate baseline vital signs, and document primary chief complaints.
  • Meticulous Medication Reconciliation: Review and verify patient medication lists, with a critical focus on identifying high-risk GI medications (such as blood thinners, biologics, or diabetic/GLP-1 medications like Ozempic) and verifying correct cessation timelines.
  • Medical History Verification: Review and update patient charts with relevant past surgical histories, cardiac clearances, allergies, and anesthesia risk factors within our EHR system.
  • IV Insertion: Safely initiate, monitor, and discontinue peripheral IV catheters in preparation for clinical procedures.
  • Provider Coordination: Efficiently brief the scheduled physician on patient stats, preparing the room and layout to maintain a smooth, timely clinic flow.
  • Clinical Triage Support: Review and address focused clinical messages routed to you by the front desk, answering patient questions regarding symptoms, medication side effects, or bowel prep issues under provider guidance.
  • Administers pre-procedure care, assists with minimally invasive diagnostic procedures, and provides post-procedure patient monitoring and education

Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Active, unrestricted Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the State of New York.
  • Proven clinical competency in peripheral IV insertion.
  •  Minimum of 1–2 years of clinical nursing experience required.
  • Background in gastroenterology, endoscopy, or an infusion clinic setting is highly preferred.
  •  Exceptional skill in medication reconciliation, baseline assessments, and electronic health record (EHR) documentation.

To ensure the clinical team thrives,  the company maintains a strict boundary between administrative and clinical roles. They have a fully staffed, dedicated front-desk team that handles all phone queues, patient check-ins, copay collections, and administrative paperwork. As an Intake Nurse at the practice, you will never be pulled up front to cover reception, answer general phone lines, or file charts. This allows you to focus 100% of your time and energy on your clinical nursing craft.

Why You’ll Love Working Here
100% Clinical Focus:No administrative multitasking, no front-window coverage, and no chasing down insurance information.
Work-Life Balance: Structured daytime hours that respect your time.
Collaborative Team: Work alongside dedicated physicians, an NP, a dedicated discharge nurse, and an organized administrative team that fully supports your role.

·  Pre-Procedure Prep: Review patient history and prep the telemetry/recording equipment. Apply abdominal sensor arrays and connect them to the external data recorder.
·  Procedure Coaching: Instruct the patient on how to swallow the capsule (like a vitamin pill), verifying they remain adequately hydrated and are fasting according to their doctor's guidelines.
·  Continuous Monitoring: Track the patient's vitals, comfort level, and the sensor's recording status throughout the 8- to 12-hour testing period.
·  Post-Procedure Care: Safely remove the receiver equipment, download the captured images/telemetry, and provide instructions on natural capsule elimination.
·  Documentation: Accurately chart all clinical observations, patient reactions, and report any irregularities to the supervising gastroenterologist.
