The Quabbin Regional School District seeks a reliable, caring and energetic Nurse for one on one medical support of a student.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of one to two years of pediatric health, community health or other relevant clinical nursing experience. Prefer experience with medical procedures, including with pediatric trach/vent and urinary catheterization experience
A valid and current license to practice as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Current CPR/AED certification by a recognized provider.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide 1:1 nursing care to student with health needs
Work collaboratively with the school nurse, school administration, school staff, parents and health care providers/consultants to ensure a high quality of care
Implement plan of care (Individualized Health Care Plan) in consultation with school nurse
Maintain a positive, caring and safe environment for the students both in and out of the classroom setting (e.g., gym class, recess, field trips)
Provide medically prescribed interventions (including g-tube feedings, suctioning, CVC port care and medications), nursing procedures and nursing care to the student.
Assist the student with activities of daily living, including toileting and hygiene, as necessary
Use sound nursing judgment to assess, monitor and treat the student based on medical directives and nursing care plan
Notify appropriate individuals, e.g., school nurse, parents, school staff, medical providers of immediate and potential health related concerns
Evaluate effectiveness of nursing interventions and provide feedback to school nurse,, medical providers and parents, as indicated
Attend IEP meetings and other meetings concerning the student as indicated.
Document nursing interventions appropriately.
Accompany the student on bus to and from school
Other responsibilities as assigned by the school nurse, school administration, or Student Services Director
This is a part-time position up to 20 hours per week during the school year.
