Job Purpose:
- The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at LIFESTREAM BEHAVIORAL CENTER plays a crucial role in providing high-quality nursing care to patients within the behavioral health setting. The LPN is responsible for supporting the healthcare team in delivering patient-centered care, ensuring the safety and well-being of patients during their stay, and contributing to the overall therapeutic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers, ensuring adherence to protocols and safety standards.
- Monitor and document patient vital signs, symptoms, and progress, reporting any changes to the healthcare team promptly.
- Assist in the development and implementation of individualized care plans, collaborating with registered nurses and other healthcare professionals.
- Provide direct patient care, including assistance with daily living activities, personal hygiene, and mobility, while maintaining patient dignity and respect.
- Participate in patient assessments and contribute to the evaluation of care plans, ensuring they meet the needs of the patients.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.
- Support a therapeutic environment by engaging patients in activities and promoting positive interactions.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team, fostering a collaborative and supportive atmosphere.
- Uphold the standards of practice and ethics for Licensed Practical Nurses, adhering to all policies and procedures of LIFESTREAM BEHAVIORAL CENTER.
- Assist in crisis intervention and management, ensuring patient and staff safety during challenging situations.
Required Education:
- Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program.
- Current, active LPN license in the state of practice.
Required Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse, preferably in a behavioral health setting.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations, including those with mental health and substance abuse issues.
- Demonstrated experience in administering medications and providing patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Strong understanding of behavioral health principles and practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Ability to maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
- Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Basic life support (BLS) certification is required.
