Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Dermatology Clinic

Job Description

This role offers the opportunity to work as a Licensed Practical Nurse in a busy dermatology clinic, providing both clinical and administrative support to ensure high-quality patient care and smooth daily operations. You will work daytime shifts within the 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. window and play a key role in patient scheduling, communication, and coordination of care.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical nursing support within a dermatology clinic setting, following established clinical protocols and standards of care.
• Schedule patient appointments efficiently and accurately, ensuring optimal use of clinic time and resources.
• Answer incoming phone calls in a professional and courteous manner, addressing patient inquiries and routing calls appropriately.
• Assist with insurance verifications, confirming coverage and benefits prior to patient visits to support seamless billing and care coordination.
• Document patient information and clinical activities accurately in the electronic health record (EHR), maintaining confidentiality and data integrity.
• Utilize Epic or similar EHR systems to update patient records, review histories, and support clinical decision-making.
• Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to support daily clinic flow and provide a positive patient experience.
• Follow clinic policies and procedures to maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.

Essential Skills

• Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of Connecticut.
• Experience working in a medical or clinical setting, preferably in outpatient care.
• Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems, including Epic.
• Ability to schedule patient appointments accurately and manage multiple schedules.
• Strong phone communication skills, including handling high call volumes professionally.
• Knowledge of basic insurance verification processes and terminology.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, busy clinic environment.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and administrative tasks.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Prior experience in a dermatology clinic or dermatology-focused practice.
• Familiarity with dermatology-specific procedures and terminology.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks throughout the day.
• Comfort working with patients in an outpatient specialty setting.
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary clinical and administrative teams.

Work Environment

The position is based in a busy dermatology clinic with daytime hours generally falling between 7:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., with overall clinic operations running approximately between 7:45 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

The environment is fast-paced and patient-focused, requiring consistent interaction with individuals in person and over the phone. Staff use electronic health record systems, including Epic, and standard medical office equipment to support clinical and administrative tasks. The role involves working on-site in a clinical setting, with professional attire appropriate for a medical office.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Madison, CT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $33.00/hr.
