Job Description

Overview:

The Lead Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for nursing staff coordination within the practice. The Lead Licensed Practical Nurse will participate in the care of patients in a physician office setting by measuring and recording vital signs, placing patients in exam rooms, preparing patients for exams/procedures, assisting the health care provider with exams/procedures, providing patient support during exams, maintaining medical supply inventory, and stocking exam rooms. Will also provide patient care by administering medications, processing patient phone calls per practice protocols, instructing patients regarding health care and treatments, and providing health care provider with information pertaining to patients' health status. Responsible for coordinating the workload of the nursing staff. May be required to float to other UFHP practices, as needed, for staffing.

Responsibilities:

Oversee day to day operations within team center, assist with keeping patient flow running smoothly. Responsible for team moral, scheduling coverage in closing shifts, in addition to regular clinic LPN duties. 

Qualifications:

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Licensed LPN eligible to practice in the State of Florida.
  • Three year of ambulatory care or hospital experience preferred.
  • One year of Lead experience preferred.
  • Person should display initiative and have the ability to multitask.
  • Outstanding patient/customer service skills, verbal clarity, team focus, and problem-solving skills are required for the ideal candidate.
  • Previous staff coordination preferred.

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

  • Current Licensed LPN eligible to practice in the State of Florida. Florida is part of the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) Act.
  • AHA or Red Cross Basic Life Support (CPR) is required or must be obtained within first 90 days of employment. Must maintain current Basic Life Support (CPR). Must successfully complete medication test within 30 days of hire.

Motor Vehicle Operator Designation:

  • Employees in this position: Will not operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose

NOTE: A frequent driver is defined as one who uses his/her personal or Shands automobile a) at lease once daily, b) at least five individual trips per week or c) drives, on average, over 150 miles per week in the performance of his/her job.
