Position Details:

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Med Surg / Medical 7E

Location: Mercy Hospital South - 10010 Kennerly Rd, St. Louis, Missouri 63128

Schedule: Part-Time | 24 hours/week

Shift: Night Shift | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Sign-On Bonus: Up to $2,000 for part-time and full-time caregivers

About the Unit

Our Medical unit 7W care for a diverse mix of adult patients who require telemetry monitoring. Common diagnoses include cellulitis, pneumonia, urinary tract infections, chest pain, gastrointestinal issues, COPD exacerbations, and medically stable COVID patients.
This is an excellent environment for nurses looking to strengthen assessment skills, broaden clinical experience, and grow within a supportive Med Surg/Telemetry team.

Overview

Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care under the supervision of person(s) licensed by a State regulatory board to prescribe medication and treatment, or under the direction of a Registered Professional Nurse (RN) . Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients. Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent

Licensure:

  • Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program

  • Must hold and maintain a current LPN license in Missouri and meet all State Board of Nursing requirements

  • Comparable education experience and successful licensure may be considered

Experience:

  • New graduates and experienced LPNs welcome

Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (or within 30 days of hire)

  • LPN-IV Certification completed prior to hire or within 3 months (up to 1 year based on unit requirements)

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent standing and walking throughout shift

  • Significant bending, stooping, and patient lifting/turning with assistance

  • Ability to push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs

Our Mercy health system was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1986. But our heritage goes back more than 185 years. It began with an Irish woman named Catherine McAuley, who wanted to help the poor women and children of Dublin. Though Catherine had a modest upbringing, she received an unexpected inheritance that allowed her to fulfill her dreams. In 1827, she opened the first House of Mercy in Dublin, intending to teach skills to poor women and educate children. Many volunteers came to help.
